Traditionally when we think of insoles or orthotics we think of a hard plastic insert that is placed in the shoe. It cups the heel and supports the arch but because it is not flexible and it does not extend the full length of the foot. This tends to make this type of orthotic uncomfortable, and ineffective for many people. It also repositions the arch using "Brute Force" Because it is not flexible it forces the arch into it's correct position but does nothing to relieve the pressure that is forcing the arch to collapse, causing the foot or leg pain in the first place. This type of hard plastic orthotic can actually cause increased pain in patients, which is the reason why we have recommended the Dr Foot Insoles for the treatment of over pronation and foot pain. They provide a flexible yet incredibly supportive and stable treatment. Testimonial " I had a lot of foot problems which was causing leg and back pain as I neglected to treat the symptoms for such as long time. After I started using these supports I can work all day - on concrete - with hardly any soreness or tiredness. They work! " Mrs McManus, Surrey UK ![]() My 10 year old daughter has inherited my flat feet, and as a result over-pronates quite badly. This affects her knees and hips, resulting in achy legs and joints. We have seen an NHS podiatrist who made some orthotics for her, but they were so thick that we were unable to find any shoes that they would fit in (she does have a high instep which probably adds to the difficulty). I wanted to try off the shelf insoles before having to see a private podiatrist which would be very costly (over £400 for the orthotics themselves). I emailed Dr Foot to ask their advice, they were very helpful and said that we would be able to try some orthotics, and return them if we were unable to find shoes that would fit with them in. We ordered a pair of Dr Foot Pro insoles (size 3-4), and were delighted to find that there were three pairs of shoes that fitted well when we visited the shoe shop. The shoe-fitter commented that we were not the only ones to have had unsatisfactory service from following the NHS route, but that often off-the-shelf orthotics are an ideal way to correct over-pronation in children (and adults as well). My daughter very quickly got used to the orthotics, and as a result has a much better posture and no longer complains of pain in her legs and joints. She also wears the same pair of orthotics in her trainers for PE. I found Dr Foot products to be competitively priced and the fast delivery is also included in the price. I now plan to purchase some orthotics for myself, and would definitely recommend Dr Foot to others. Mrs Janet Longley, UK |
