Achilles tendonitis is often caused by a tight Achilles tendon, which leads to restricted ankle joint movement. As the heel lifts during walking the pull from the calf muscles can lead to inflammation and pain. By lifting the heel the tension in the tendon is reduced allowing for natural healing. Medial posting of the heel will also reduce the pronation compensation often associated with restriction of the ankle and Achilles tendonitis. Pronation of the heel Many feet pronate excessively and only show significant change in the heel position. Proheel is also available with a 5º medial post to reduce loading of the medial (inner) side of the heel which occurs with pronation of the foot. Furthermore many patients are unable to tolerate orthotics under the arch or the forefoot and so Proheel 5º posts offer an excellent alternative for pronation control. |
