Excilor Treatment for Fungal Nail Infection
More Information

There are a number of remedies available on the market, however, some of these require filing of the nail and in some cases this can lead to cross infection. The treatments least likely to cause this cross infection are ones which are applied like nail varnishes and then left to dry onto the nail. An example of this type of product is Excilior.

When Excilor reaches the nail plate it rapidly reduces the nails pH by changing the micro-environment making the nail hostile to fungi so they no longer grow. The damaged nail will begin to grow back normally and can be seen as the healthy nail begins to grow back. It is important to start the treatment as soon as the first symptoms appear: the smaller the infected area, the shorter the period of treatment and the faster the nail will regain its normal, healthy appearance.

A foot fungal nail infection does not go away unless it is treated and many people chose to ignore the brittle, thickened nails and the white patches that are the typical symptoms of a foot fungal infection Often patients disguise the infection by using nail varnish but this only covers up the infection. Left untreated the fungi continues to spread and the condition gets worse ultimately resulting in the loss of the nail. Fungal nail infection (also known as onychomycosis) is an infection of the fingernails or toenails by fungi also known as dermatophytes. The infection normally starts along the outside rim of the nail, which turns whitish-yellow or brown and green. The fungus spreads into or underneath the nail plate, causing the plate to thicken. The nail then becomes brittle and may separate partially or completely from the nail bed which then can become painful. In some cases the infection results in the permanent loss of the nail There are a number of remedies available on the market, however, some of these require filing of the nail and in some cases this can lead to cross infection. I have had a toenail infection for 15 years and have tried a few treatments with no effect ! , but most infections have gone under the nail and are hard to reach, firstly have you noticed how many people have big toenail infections like both of mine?, when I am asleep I can feel my feet being scratched using the big toenail forcing the sweat containing the infection under the nail so get rid of your athlete's foot infection first , then treat your nails.

Recently I was in pain with both big toenails so I decided to give it another go using Excilcor but not the pen, the brush and bottle as it seemed to be better value for money , I have treated every nail on my feet regardless of infection as the infection travels in sweat, first time in years I could see results and the pain has gone after 4 weeks , the toenails which were a discoloured mother of pearl / tortoiseshell are now reverting back to white and I am confident its working, gently pull back the nail and get the bush in between the nail and skin Im sure it speeds up the process.

I have tried other fungal nail products - none of them worked and most involved the brutal filing down of your nail. This is so easy to apply and although I had to use 2 pens to get rid of it - my nail is completely clear. it is a very good product.

This stuff works. I have had a fungal nail infection in my little toe for a good few years now, to the point where the nail becomes brittle and splits down the centre, making it very painful. It also recurrently spreads to the surrounding skin giving me athlete's foot. I went to the doctor and he prescribed a nail lacquer that is painted on, and I had to do this for six months three times a week, spending ages filing the nail each time and sterilising everything with alcohol rubs. After all this faffing around, it didn't work, and the infection spread to the nail next to it (I can only imagine through the dust from the nail filings). Anyway, I gave up with that then I noticed this stuff. It acts by altering the acidity of the nail and the nailbed so the fungus does not have optimal growth conditions. It weakens the fungus and eventually destroys it. It is used twice a day and you simply use the pen to "colour in" your toenail on top and under the edge. Clip off the infected parts of the nail as they grow out. That's it. No filing, sterilising, breathing in toenail/fungus dust, etc. It takes 30 seconds to treat my two nails. I have been using it for four weeks, and the nails are improving greatly. I am still using my first pen, but have ordered another, since it is important not to miss a single treatment and to carry on for a few months afterwards to ensure the infection is clear.
