You will need a diagnosis from a chiropodist/ podiatrist. You need to rule out ingrown toe nails, hallux rigidus (stiff shooting pain in first toe), gait (walking) problems, neurological conditions that can cause this type of pain ie diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis.
