i've been doing water aerobics for 3mos. i noticed some cramping would occur in my feet during the jumping jacks or any jumping type of movements, so i excluded those moves from my routine. i thought working out in the water would be more of an ease on the joints.my foot has been swollen for three days now beginning with just my big toe, two more toes and the ball of my foot have swollen ,i can't walk on that foot, there is a pulsating like pain off and on in the toes.what is going on?

You toe-cramp because of an unconcious attempt to keep your feet pointed and stay streamlined. During your next session, focus on keeping your feet relaxed. You get better propulsion and less cramp. Other causes can be Overexertion, Inadequate stretching and warmup prior to exercise, Loss of fluids and electrolytes. Electrolytes are minerals such as calcium, sodium, magnesium, and potassium. It’s electrolytes that control the contraction and relaxation of our muscles, and allow you to do things like blink your eyes, wiggle your toes, and perform all the motions of water aerobics.
In the case of water aerobics, Pushing off too hard, especially during warmup.
Rest for 7-10 days and your toes should be ok as they have been strained.
