Dr Foot- I am a 29 year old male and I'm in the Air Force. I injured my foot about 4 years ago while going thru Ranger School (Lots of walking thru the woods, carrying lots of weight in a rucksack). Since then, I have been working thru the pain (including 2 trips to Afghanistan).
In January of this year it became worse. I went to the doctor, they did an MRI and a CT scan. The diagnosis was - Avascular Necrosis in my navicular bone, a couple of bone spurs and chips, and the navicular has a non union fracture.
I was put in a cast for 8 weeks (didn't help). The AF is basically saying that there is nothing they can do for it. I'm probably going to be medially discharged / retired.
Do you know of any procedure that would help? Do you know of a specialist in this field that could fix me?
