I get a pain that occurs on the top of my foot that lasts for generally 3- days. It happens about once a year. The stranger thing is that my father gets it as well as at least 2 of my siblings. My sister's sons also get it. I am 34 now and it has occured for about the last 6-8 years now. my sister was just told that it may be gout? Thank you for any in put.

It is most probably not gout; it may be a posterior tibial ligament problem that runs in the family that causes the pain. Have you tried orthotics?
