Hi there,

I have all the symptoms of this condition which occurred whilst I was training for a marathon.  I went & bought one of the foot pads to help with it though I am hoping to find out how long it would take to notice a difference?

The pain is more acute after standing or walking for any duration & I have cut out all physical activity so no rugby, golf, squash, running, cycling and so on.

It is the 2nd metatarsal causing the problem too.  Is there anything else I can do?

Thanks for reading.

Steve

Have you had x-rays? You may need to confirm if you have a stress fracture at the head of the second metatarsal which is common in runners. The pads should help diffuse the pressure in the area but you may need custom made pads by a podiatrist. These pads redistribute pressure away from the second metatarsal and therefore a small U shape is cut exactly where the head of the metatarsal is.
