After playing tennis every day for 2-3 hours for two weeks I have developed tender arches in both feet and they feel very hot all the time.  Could I have strained something?

This is actually quite common in tennis, basketball and squash players. You have most likely strained the planter fascia which holds the arch of the foot in position. You should rest from sporting activity for 14 days, apply Ice to the area (frozen bag of peas to make sure you don't get an ice burn) for 7 days 3 times daily for 10 minutes. You also need insoles, I can recommend the below insoles
