Hi

My mum, a T2 diabetic, has a painful growth on her large toenail. Her doctor says it is athletes foot and has given me some Canesten solution to put on it. This was two weeks ago and the toe is still painful and nothing seems to be happening to the growth.

Taking good care of your feet is going to a podiatrist, or foot doctor, regularly. You should visit him at least once a year for a foot checkup. This specialist will watch for signs of toenail fungus and inform you of the best ways to treat it.
