|
|
| I have toes that at ~ midnight and if they are warmed become red, swell up (alot!),appear to develop little bumps under the skin and become very very itchy. I have tried cortisone creams, antifungals etc and the only thing that stops the itching is cold water and formaldehyde, this condition has been going on for ~3 weeks now and is getting truely unbearable now!! Any ideas would be appreciated! |

| I have had this condition for nearly two years. I have gone through 4/5 prescribed creams from the doctor and been assured that it is not pustural psoriasis or athletes foot! It has got so bad it keeps me up at night (like now), my toenails don't grow, my fourth toe is derforming, it feels like the toe is dying and the one next to it is following suit! I really do seriously want to lose my foot sometimes! I have been to the doctor 6 TIMES. Please help. |

The most common culprits are psoriases, tinea pedis (fungal skin infection), hormonal changes and stress. Other less common causes include:
Lichen planus which is a skin condition that causes itchy, flat-topped bumps that develop into scaly patches.
Poor circualtion and lack of muscluar motion can also cause foot swelling and burning feet.
Diabetes
Chilblains which small, itchy, red swellings on the skin, which can become increasingly painful, can swell and then dry out leaving cracks in the skin which expose the foot to the risk of infection. |

| I have suffered with intensely itchy toes (on the face of the toes) and also, my instep on both feet have been swollen these past few days (5). I put cortizone cream on my toes and it helps control the itch for about 5-8 hrs, but after that it starts to itch terribly. My husband thought it might be allergic reaction and so I took Zyrtec and almost immediately the itching stopped and I have gone the entire day without having my toes itch. The toes still have the raised red bumps, but not the itch. So, try an allergy pill as it seems to me that my itchy, swollen feet problem is allergy based. |
